On a building site there are many things that can’t be controlled, particularly the weather. That’s why the main elements of all the homes at Edgewood are constructed in a purpose-built factory, using a combination of computer-controlled machines and old-fashioned craftsmanship. This results in a better quality product and a faster construction process. For you, it simply means a much better home.

At Edgewood, MilliganGray is committed to bringing the highest levels of meticulous manufacturing to the Scottish market. That’s why we have teamed up with Griffner – European leaders in precision engineering within the construction industry.

Revolutionary design

Based on the bespoke designs provided by MilliganGray’s architects, all the wall, roof and floor elements of the homes at Edgewood are manufactured at Griffner’s manufacturing facility in Griffen, Austria. This state-of-the-art factory is fitted out with the latest machinery and software to enable precision engineering at all stages of production.

The most interesting aspect of the Griffner building method is the way in which external walls are engineered and fully finished in the factory. These are built using a revolutionary multi-layered design that provides exceptional strength, heat and sound insulation, while allowing the whole structure to ‘breath’ naturally.

These ‘high-tech’ walls come out of the factory complete. Everything is in place before the walls are shipped out, from the windows and external doors through to a finish of either render or timber cladding. All that remains to be done on site is to put them in place and give them their final coats of render.

Superior Product

Precision-engineered components, together with factory levels of quality control, ensure a much superior product compared to traditional build methods. As well as the high quality of the finished product, the other main advantage of this system is the fact that it makes on-site construction much quicker and the time it takes to get the homes to a water-tight stage is greatly reduced.

A dedicated team from Griffner assembles each home with the highest level of craftsmanship – a process that only takes a matter of days to complete. This cuts down on the time in which the homes are open to the elements and again ensures a much higher quality product, and a better home for you and your family.
